220 - Yikes!

After yesterday’s rather wordy blog I thought I’d post something simple. Thank you to Greg for forwarding this to me.

Pretty cool but I doubt it will catch on where I live… it’s too dangerous to ride a bike on our streets except where there are bike lanes (and that may not even keep you safe!). It's also taking something healthy and making it kinda lazy... I don't know that I understand the logic.

Also don't get the name... I mean... do you feel like you're going to fall off so they decided to call it a Yikes bike? Hmph.

  1. I'm thinking that is definitely something that would catch on with the European populace... We have too much open ground around here for something like that, so I don't really see it being popular where I live either. And let's face it, can you really see somebody riding down SouthEast LA on one of those things...

  2. I like that. I think I'm a little too tall for it, but it looks cool.

  3. That seems like a cool idea for a lazy man. It could also be considered the poor mans Segway.

    My Thoughts

  4. It is very Euro... it would never catch on here. People here take their bikes super serious. We have these little bike shops everywhere! They are hard core in their lime green spandex, streamlined helmets and Italian bikes.
Cool idea though. Maybe in CA?

  5. Might be good for a short commute, if you worked close to home...but then, so would a regular bike. If I was 10 miles from work, I would just use a normal bike.

  6. I definitely see it as a more European thing. I wish we were set up more like that... it would be nice to walk to the market if I wanted to. Sometimes driving is a pain in the ass... it always backs up at the freeway. As it is, it's too far away, and not safe because a) people drive like maniacs, and b) some people are actually maniacs.

  8. I got to agree: Yikes Bike is not the kind of name that would make me trust the product!

  9. It's a great idea, but I would fall off of that thing all the time....

It was sooooo funny when George W. Bush fell on the Segway....

  10. Friday night I hopped onto my laptop and looked at the video - my 1st thought was that I would totally fall off.

Then my husband came into the kitchen and was transfixed. He loved the bike and now wants one!!!!!!

    Just great!

It will never catch on so I am not worried :-)
