194 - Shrinky-Dink

(came to mind because Lisa Marie posted about them yesterday)

Another moment of truth... after a severe gastrointestinal flu, and losing 4 days of progress, I didn't know what to expect from this week's numbers. Plus (sorry guys, but this does affect the numbers a bit), it's that time of the month, so I'm probably carrying an extra 1-2 lbs of water weight. However, even taking that into consideration, I'm pretty stoked about this week's numbers:

3 weeks ago     2 weeks ago     Today        Total Change

Weight -      172.0              173.2                 172.2         +0.2 lbs

Bust -          39-1/2"           39-1/2"              39-1/4"      -1/4"

Chest -        34-1/2"           34-1/2"              34"             -1/2"

Waist -       36-1/2"           35-3/4"              34-1/2"       -2"

Hips -        43-1/2"           43"                     41"             -2-1/2"

Thighs -     24"                 24-1/2"               24-1/4"      +1/4"

Arms -       14"                12-1/2"               12"              -1-1/2"

Most surprised about my waist and hips. I could kind of see more of a curve along the side of my torso, but didn't notice much of a change in my hips... of course, how can you really tell? Hips are one of those things that aren't too obvious (on most people... now, if a person has a timpani butt (when they walk you can almost hear the drums going 'bong-bong bong-bong) I guess it would be). And even though I have lost 6" overall, I would also like to start seeing the poundage go down... it's a little frustrating...

But it's my bad... After that stomach flu ran its course (and I lost 3 lbs) I was desperate to eat anything I could get my hands on, and unfortunately I was craving things like pizza and hamburgers and soda... Admittedly, after barfing up a salad, I was kind of put off of salads for a bit, but I think I'm ready to get back on the horse and start making healthier meals again... including salads.

And... my old foe the soda pop... I'm still drinking 2 a day. It's hard to give that up ya'll. And there's another 4/$10 sale on this week... so I'm gonna buy more. I can make sacrifices, but apparently soda is important to me. Fruit spritzers didn't cut it. Gingerale didn't cut it. I sometimes drink chocolate almond milk, but I still haven't found a good soda substitute. Maybe that's my mission in life...

Yesterday was payday, so I ordered Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I couldn't help myself. The food looked so good. Except for the aspic. And I won't be cooking a lobster any time soon. But I know that stews and bread and all that stuff is going to be gooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

Tonight I'm going to a bachelorette party. Not sure I'm going to go to the club part, but I'm going to the dinner part. I'm club averse because a few years back I made the mistake of using an online personals service, and I met a guy who seemed cool. Even after we met the first time he was still pretty cool. As time went on he revealed a somewhat more quirky side... quirky odd, not quirky good. The last time we saw each other, he went on and on about how I broke his heart (when mind you, on our first outing,  at the beginning of the date, he told me that since I didn't have kids he thought we should probably just be friends), and he started sounding a little irritable and confrontational about it. So anyway, he really likes the club they're going to, as in 'it's where he used to go all the time'. I've been free of him for a couple of years now, and I don't know that I want to risk it. If the bachelorette was one of my close friends I might be willing to bite that bullet, but we rarely hang out, so as I'm weighing the pros and cons, and the cons are winning. I know I'm going to be pressured to go, but fuck that... I'm 36 years old, and I can make my own damn decisions.

Welp, time to get my booty in gear and make a run to the grocery store. Would work out before I go to the party, but since I'm coming home after dinner, I think I'll wait. Unlike one of my friends who's doing the Shred, I don't get pumped up when I'm done... I get tired... Maybe I'll even get some planting in today... if not, tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. That's some great progress!!!

Keep it up the weight will come off, but those inches mean this program works ...

Speaking of soda (I don't drink it)....Have you ever tried diet dr. pepper? It's one of the few sodas I will drink and it tastes so dang close to regular dr. pepper to me.

Woah, talk about a weird fellow. I wouldn't want to take the risk of running into him either. Yeesh.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend yourself!

  4. Ha. I drink chocolate almond milk, too. It's nasty...

Congrats on your success so far. You seem to have the right attitude -- when you fall off the damned horse, you get back on.

  5. I'm with Bendigo! I love Diet Dr. Pepper.... I'm not a fan of the regular Dr. Pepper though....

Uh oh... You got Mastering the Art of French Cooking? Do you have a truck full of butter backing up to your house? Julia loved her some butter, not as much as Paula Deen though....

  6. Took a slimnastics course at the college, after 3rd Son was born and after each class my car would auto-navigate right through the drive-thru at McD, for a hot fudge sundae and fries. Darn car! I had to stop going, because I was gaining weight. Thinking back on that time... I only weighed about 95 pounds. That was 30 years ago! I'd love to weigh that now!

  7. Don't be so concerned about the poundage, when they say muscle mass is denser than fat, they are correct. You may actually GAIN a little weight while the muscles get bigger.

I have never been a soda drinker, so I can't relate. Coffee and ocassional smoke are my vices.

  8. 9 out of 10 posts or comments I leave is me under the influence of Diet Dr. Pepper. Around my area, my wife and I are the only ones that drink it, so I'm glad to see other supporters in this thread. That stuff tastes very un-diet so you will probably like it. For me, it's like crack rock. I did the 4 for $10 deal this week as well and guess what I bought? Exactly.

  9. Bendigo - How am I the only one who drinks soda??? And how am I the only one who thinks that diet Dr. P still tastes like diet???

Kato - Luckily, even though I am weak and ended up going, I didn't run into him.

Sarah - I did have fun, it's nice to cut loose every once in a while... I should do it more often.

Terry - It's not nasty! If there is some sweetness to it... without the sweetness then yeah... it's kinda nasty...

ABAO - LOL, I actually found some Irish butter at the store today, and I bought it! I'm a fan of real butter. Not like Paula, but I do like it!

MA - My car like McDonalds too... so do my taste buds... Man... I was right next to a Whataburger tonight, I should have gotten one, that it the BEST burger...

Joe - That's what I keep telling myself

Geof - 4/10 is awesome isn't it? So enabling...
